Magnificent Mountains
Two panoramic shots that reveal the impressive vistas of our local mountain ranges. The observatories in the above image are located on Cerro Pachón at an altitude of 2715 m. On the left you can see the building of the new Rubin Observatory, which is still under construction and will start its operation in 2023. The dome of Gemini South, the southern twin of the Gemini North Observatory located on Mauna Kea (Hawaii), is visible on the right side.
