From Coalsack to Carina
This beautiful vista shows the Southern region that stretches from the Coalsack Nebula (the dark spot on the left) to the prominent Eta-Carinae Nebula (large red area on the right). For the uninitiated or those in doubt, an annotated image that marks the most prominent objects is available below (if you click on the annotated image a large version will display).
The image was taken with an 85 mm lens on a tracked mount. For the final image 60 calibrated images were stacked. This is another collaboration with Eduardo Latorre who processed the image, while I did the image acquisition, some final touches in Photoshop as well as the annotations.
