I was born and raised in Germany, with wonderfully creative siblings. While they could paint admirably my feeble artistic attempts received – more often than not – raised eyebrows and bad grades. It wasn’t until later in life that I discovered that I could paint indeed – but with light. It is through photography that I can unfold my creative potential and realize my vision of the world – be it abstract, blurry or black & white.  Although I focus on landscape, portrait, and astrophotography, I love to experiment and explore other areas as well  (check out my blog).

For me the kind of camera I use to take images is only relevant in so far, as it allows me to realize my creative vision. Hence, I am using everything from action cams, smartphones and DSLRs to analog medium format cameras. I have travelled quite a bit to satisfy my passion for astrophotography under dark skies. Therefore, I am happy to now call home a remote mountain valley in Chile that offers world class night skies.

Since I love the actual picture taking more than post-processing, I always strive to get the perfect image “within” the camera. Although I am delighted when my pictures turn out as I envisioned them, I achieve real fulfilment when  my images move or inspire others.
